Serves 1
Cost £0.5
Time 20 mins
Skill 1
Ingredients

1 ripe banana
1 dessertspoonful orange juice
a little lemon juice
drop of vanilla essence
sprinkling of brown sugar (e.g.demarara, muscovado)
small knob butter
Equipment

1 small shallow ovenproof bowl
knife
microwave or conventional oven or barbeque
Instructions

1. Slice banana along its length, and place in the ovenproof bowl.

2. Add the other ingredients.

3. Part cover with a plate, and cook in the microwave for 1 minute.
Allow to cool slightly. Serve as it is, or with ice cream.

Notes

This is a great recipe to do for a barbeque. Use the same ingredients, but instead of putting it in a bowl, put it in tin foil, and bringing up the edges, seal it into a purse shape. It will cook in about 15 minutes on the embers of the barbeque while you're finishing your main course. Serve it in the foil.

Alternatively, if you're using a conventional oven for your main course, put the foil parcels on a tray in the oven (190/200) for about 15 minutes.

For special suppers add a teaspoonful of rum and add a segment of orange to the parcel before cooking.
